Our prediction for this Premier League match:
Following a 2-2 draw with reigning champions Man City, Arsenal will look to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they host Leicester City to their Emirates Stadium. The Gunners defended well in the Etihad Stadium showdown, but they are likely to go all guns blazing at the Foxes. Leonardo Trossard is back to the starting XI after serving a one-game ban in the EFL Cup, while both Martin Odegaard and Mikel Merino continue to miss out with injuries.
Leicester, meanwhile, have yet to record a win in the new Premier League campaign and given their negative record at Emirates Stadium, anything but a routine home win would be a big surprise. In their last meeting in London, Arsenal defeated Leicester City 4-2. Both Patson Daka and Jakub Stolarczyk are out of contention with injuries for the visiting side. Jamie Vardy is widely expected to lead the line for the visitors.
How the bookies view it: Light work for the Londoners
Unsurprisingly, Arsenal are heavy 2/13 favourites on WJPESO to return to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
A fourth stalemate of the season involving Leicester is as big as 6/1 (JILIPARK) while a Foxes triumph is trading at a whopping 14/1 (PAGCOR).
Head to head: Gunners going for six in a row
Arsenal have fared well in this fixture in recent years, claiming top honours from each of the last five meetings between the pair.
Leicester’s last victory against Arsenal was a 1-0 win at an empty Emirates in October 2020, with Jamie Vardy grabbing the only goal of the game.
Arsenal vs Leicester Prediction
Arsenal were just seconds away from a huge victory over defending champions Manchester City but super-late John Stones equalizer prevented their Etihad heroics last Sunday.
The Gunners had to settle for a 2-2 draw in a match in which they played the entire second half with ten men on the pitch.
Mikel Arteta’s men allowed 33 shots and David Raya had another incredible performance despite conceding twice on the occasion.
Arsenal are now fourth in the Premier League table but they are still only two points shy of table-toppers.
The Gunners will have a nice opportunity to return to winning ways on Saturday afternoon in the home clash with the recently-promoted Leicester.
Leicester sit 15th in the league standings and they are one of six winless teams in the opening five rounds of the season.
The Foxes played a 1-1 stalemate to direct relegation rivals Everton seven days ago at King Power Stadium. They’ve scored just six goals so far in the season which is not quite promising ahead of the clash with one of the best defensive lines in the nation.
The difference in quality between these two rivals is massive and we can hardly expect anything other than a comprehensive victory for Mikel Arteta and his troops.
Arsenal do miss Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard but they should still have enough to get past Leicester.
The visitors have only lost two of five opening matches but they were outplayed by their rivals in every single affair so far in the campaign.
The Foxes shipped at least two goals in each of the maiden two away outings in the league despite facing the likes of Fulham and Crystal Palace in the process.
We will back Arsenal to win by three or more goals difference as the main betting option at the odds of 2.35.
The value is also with Arsenal’s main star and penalty-taker Bukayo Saka to score anytime at the 2.20 odds. The English winger has one goal and five assists so far in the season.
Players to watch: Saka to set up another?
Bukayo Saka has provided an assist in each of his five Premier League appearances for Arsenal this season. A repeat here can be backed at 13/89 on PHMACAO.
Leicester defender Wout Faes has committed a minimum of one foul in each of his five Premier League outings this season so far, making him a great value option to fall foul of the referee just once at the Emirates at 8/11 with 777PUB.
Predicted line-ups
Arsenal remain without captain Martin Odegaard but Leandro Trossard will return from suspension after sitting out the midweek mauling of Bolton.
Patson Daka suffered an ankle injury during pre-season and is not expected back any time soon following surgery.
Arsenal: Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori; Partey, Rice; Saka, Trossard, Martinelli; Havertz
Leicester: Hermansen; Justin, Faes, Okoli, Kristiansen; Skipp, Winks, Ndidi; Ayew, Mavididi, Vardy.
